Dental, Vision, and Hearing
Review coverage for services Original Medicare may not routinely cover.
Dental: understand the narrow exception
Original Medicare generally does not cover routine cleanings, fillings, extractions or dentures. It may pay for certain dental services when they are closely linked to a Medicare-covered medical treatment. Check the particular medical condition and setting under Medicare’s dental coverage page.

Vision and hearing are different benefits
Original Medicare generally excludes routine eye exams for glasses and hearing aids or fitting exams; it covers certain medically necessary eye and hearing services under specific conditions. Some Advantage plans have extra benefits with their own limits and networks.

Compare the actual benefit
Ask for a separate policy’s waiting periods, networks, annual maximums, copays and exclusions in writing. Neither Medicare.gov nor SSA.gov verifies the benefits of a separate Sokar dental, vision or hearing product.
