Medicare Readiness Quiz

Identify which topics need clarification before comparing plans.

Question: When do you enroll in A and B?

Answer depends on whether you receive Social Security before 65, whether you have eligible active-employment coverage, and whether you qualify through disability or other paths. Medicare’s getting-started decision routes lead to the correct sign-up action.

Question: Does a $0 Advantage premium mean $0 cost?

No. You generally keep paying any required Part B premium and must check plan deductibles, copays, drug prices, maximum out-of-pocket costs and network rules. A quoted premium is one component of annual cost.

Question: Can I buy Medigap during every fall election period?

The federal Medigap Open Enrollment window generally lasts six months beginning when you are 65 or older and enrolled in Part B. Later guaranteed-issue or state rights may apply, but the Medicare fall plan-election period does not automatically reopen federal Medigap rights.

Question: Will Medicare cover a foreign trip?

Original Medicare generally does not pay for care outside the U.S. except in limited circumstances. Certain standardized Medigap letters have limited foreign emergency benefits. Read the actual travel coverage terms before leaving.
