Medigap Plan K
Understand partial cost-sharing coverage and the annual out-of-pocket limit.
Plan K benefit schedule
Plan K includes the full Part A hospital coinsurance and 365 added days; 50% of the listed Part B coinsurance, blood, hospice, skilled nursing coinsurance and Part A deductible. The same standardized letter has the same basic benefits among companies in most states. Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin standardize differently; confirm the policy offered in your state.

Costs this letter leaves open
Plan K does not include the Part B deductible, Part B excess charges, and foreign-travel emergencies. A Medigap policy pays only for its listed share of Medicare-covered services; the presence of a policy does not make an otherwise excluded service eligible. Review the chart row by row before quoting a monthly premium.

The decision point for Plan K
Plan K has an $8,000 out-of-pocket limit in 2026. Medicare says the plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the calendar year after you meet that limit and the annual Part B deductible ($283 in 2026). Its 50% rows leave substantial cost sharing before those thresholds.

Timing and eligibility
Plan K has cost-sharing percentages and an annual limit, but its purchase rights follow the ordinary Medigap calendar. Your federal six-month protected period starts with Part B when you are at least 65. Outside that period, determine whether a qualifying guaranteed-issue or state right protects the application.

Quote and enrollment checks
Request the premium for Plan K in your ZIP code from each available insurer, with its rating method, household discounts, projected age increases and effective date. Part B premium remains payable; newly sold Medigap coverage does not supply Part D drugs, so price a separate drug plan when needed. Verify providers accept Medicare rather than treating a Medigap company as an Advantage network.
